Suspect In Deadly San Jose Hit-And-Run Turns Himself In
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of hitting and killing a pedestrian with his Ford pickup truck and then fleeing the scene in San Jose on Tuesday morning turned himself in Wednesday, police said.
Pedro Cortez Bernal, 29, was booked into jail on suspicion of felony hit-and-run after surrendering to Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies, according to police.
Bernal is suspected of hitting a San Jose man walking in the area of North White Road and Florence Avenue at 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
The victim, whose name has not been released, died at the scene.
Officers connected the collision to a white Ford pickup truck with black rims, tinted windows and a loud exhaust.
They found a truck that matched the description near the corner of North Capitol and Alum Rock avenues on Wednesday. Hours later, Bernal turned himself in.
