Gunman Fires Shot At San Francisco Caltrain
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco police are investigating reports that someone fired a gun at a Caltrain passing through the city's Potrero Hill neighborhood earlier this week.
Officers responded about 7:30 p.m. Monday to a report of shots fired near Pennsylvania Avenue and Mariposa Street.
They found several witnesses who said they had seen someone on an overpass near the tracks shooting at a passing train, according to police.
Officers searched for possible victims and did not find any. They also determined that the train had not been struck, nor were there any passengers on board, police said.
Shell casings were recovered at the scene, and witnesses reported that the shooter had placed his gun into a bag and walked away, heading west on Mariposa Street and then north on Pennsylvania Avenue, according to police.
No arrests had been made in connection with the shooting as of Wednesday afternoon, police said.
