Man Found Shot In Oakland I-580 Crash; Possible Suspect Detained
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- A three-car crash on Interstate Highway 580 in Oakland Wednesday afternoon involved one person who was shot, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The crash on eastbound Highway 580 near the Broadway exit was reported at 3:20 p.m., according to the CHP.
A male victim was shot and taken to a hospital for treatment, CHP Officer Sean Wilkenfeld said. Wilkenfeld did not immediately know the extent of his injuries.
The CHP has detained one possible suspect in the shooting and another may still be at large, Wilkenfeld said.
A witness who didn't want to be identified saw the incident go down. "And I looked out the window and saw one car spin around. The other car hit it and I saw two men jump out of the front seat of the car and run down the freeway."
Two lanes of the highway were closed Wednesday afternoon while the CHP investigates the shooting. Drivers have been advised to use Interstate Highway 880 as an alternate route.
There was no estimated time the lanes will reopen.
Oakland police have taken over the investigation, according to the CHP.
