Suspect Crashes In Santa Rosa High-Speed Police Chase
SANTA ROSA (BCN) - One man was arrested Sunday evening in Santa Rosa after a brief high-speed pursuit in the city ended with a crash, a Santa Rosa police sergeant said.
A patrolling officer spotted a car traveling quickly on Marble Street near Stony Point Road just after 10 p.m. Sunday, Sgt. Mike Numainville said in a statement.
The officer chased the speeding motorist with lights and sirens blaring, but the driver - later identified as 23-year-old Santa Rosa resident Milton Thomson - did not yield to the officer, Numainville said.
In ongoing attempts to evade police, Thompson committed numerous vehicle code violations, Numainville said. Though the chase was brief, the cars at times reached speeds as high as 70 mph, he said.
A short distance from where Thompson was first spotted, his vehicle collided with another car and a light pole on Stony Point Road just south of W. College Avenue, ending the chase, Numainville said.
The vehicle Thompson hit experienced minor damage, but none of its occupants were injured, Numainville said. Thompson, the sole occupant of his vehicle, received only minor bruising in the crash, he said.
Thompson was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail for feloniously evading a peace officer and driving with a suspended license, Numainville said
