Suspect Arrested In Sacramento Murder Not Ruled Out In Livermore CVS Killing
(CBS SF) -- A man allegedly connected with a suspect in a fatal shooting in Livermore on Saturday has been arrested for a homicide in Sacramento last month.
Sacramento police said 24-year-old John Bunch was arrested in Alameda County on Tuesday morning for his role in the fatal, drug-related shooting of 53-year-old Walter Gibson in a parking lot near the 3600 block of Truxel Road in Sacramento on Sept. 28.
Sacramento police said 18-year-old Jason Brown of Oakland is also a suspect in the death of Gibson, who suffered fatal gunshot wounds to his upper body.
Livermore police said Brown, who is still at large and is considered to be armed and dangerous, is one of two suspects in the fatal shooting of 32-year-old Jose Mendoza of Turlock in the parking lot of a CVS Pharmacy at 1500 First St. at about 6:05 p.m. Saturday.
Police said a second victim, 22-year-old Ulizes Benitez of Turlock, was also wounded in the shooting and is still listed in critical condition.
Livermore police spokesman Ryan Sanchez said Wednesday that the second suspect in the homicide on Saturday night is a male but still hasn't been identified.
Sanchez said that at this point Livermore police don't have any information linking Bunch to the fatal shooting in their city but they also can't rule him out.
Livermore police said Brown and the second suspect were seen leaving the scene of the shooting in a black 2006 BMW 325i with two red racing stripes on the hood and license plate number 5PLR682, according to police.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact the Livermore Police Department at (925) 371-4777.
Fresno police said Brown is also suspected of carrying out a shooting at a Thai restaurant in their city on Sept. 12 in which 27-year-old Albert Thao was killed and another man was wounded.
They said the suspect, later identified as Brown, was seen leaving the scene in a gray Dodge Charger.
