Suspect Arrested For Arson Fire At Vallejo Mayor's Law Office
VALLEJO (CBS SF) - Vallejo police arrested a suspect Friday on suspicion of three arsons, including one at the office of Mayor Osby Davis.
Maude Love, of Vallejo, is suspected of setting the fires at the Cooley and Riolo Mortuary at 505 Couch St. on June 6, at Taylor Chapel at 1203 Louisiana St. on July 30 and at the law offices of Michael Thompson and Osby Davis at 410 Tuolumne St. on Sept. 29, Sgt. Kevin Coelho said.
Love was booked into Solano County Jail for the three arsons and the investigation is continuing, Coelho said.
On Oct. 1, Davis called the fire at his office "a malicious and cowardly act" and said he would not be intimidated.
The 1:30 a.m. blaze damaged a waiting room and office area and was extinguished within 15 minutes.
Davis said he was the victim of other acts of vandalism over the past 10 months, including two other broken windows at the law office and one at the building that was his campaign headquarters.
The mayor's motorcycle also was stolen in May from a parking lot at City Hall.
Davis said he believed the incidents were related to his position as mayor and not his legal profession.
"To believe otherwise at this particular time would be to ignore the facts of escalating acts of attempted intimidation," Davis said.
