Suspect's Car Caught On Tape During Belmont School Computer Theft
BELMONT (CBS/BCN) -- Belmont police on Friday released surveillance video footage of what may be a vehicle involved in the theft of thousands of dollars of electronic equipment from Carlmont High School over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.
Sometime between the evening of Nov. 24 and the morning of Nov. 29, an unknown number of suspects stole 25 Apple MacBook computers and 30 iPod Touches from a classroom at the school located at 1400 Alameda de las Pulgas, police said.
The school-owned equipment was worth more than $50,000 and was used for instructional purposes, according to police.
The campus is covered by 31 video cameras, and officers reviewed each camera to see if any information could be gleaned from the surveillance footage.
Investigators found video from around 9:40 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28, that shows a compact SUV or crossover vehicle that appears to be leaving the campus via the north gate onto Alameda de Las Pulgas.
The investigation into the theft is ongoing and police are asking anyone who may have seen the vehicle leaving the campus to call (650) 595-7400. People wishing to remain anonymous can call (650) 598-3000.
