Sunnyvale Stabbing Victim Hospitalized; Suspect Arrested
SUNNYVALE (BCN) -- A man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing another man during an altercation in Sunnyvale Wednesday morning, a captain with the city's Department of Public Safety said.
Mitchell Polecat, 20, was arrested in connection with the stabbing, which was reported around 11 a.m. near the intersection of South Fair Oaks and Iris avenues, Capt. Dave Verbrugge said.
Polecat, a Sunnyvale resident, and the 20-year-old victim were allegedly seen running south on South Fair Oaks Avenue before the victim collapsed in a parking lot.
He was taken to a hospital with two slash and stab wounds to his head and one to his arm, Verbrugge said. The injuries were not life threatening, he said.
Witnesses of the attack followed a safe distance behind Polecat, who continued westbound on El Camino Real for nearly a quarter-mile before going into Sprouts Farmers Market.
Officers responded, and employees at the market directed them to the employee lounge, where Polecat was found and arrested without incident, Verbrugge said.
He was booked into county jail on suspicion of attempted murder, he said.
