Suge Knight Sues Dr. Dre, Claims Murder For Hire Plot
By Annie Reuter
(RADIO.COM) – Four months after suing Chris Brown over being shot seven times at the rapper's VMA party in 2014, Suge Knight has filed a lawsuit against Dr. Dre. In the new suit Knight claims that Dre hired a hit man to kill him at Brown's party.
Knight alleges that Dre contracted the man who shot him seven times in 2014. The suit states that while the L.A. County Sheriff's Department questioned a man, identified as "Damian" or "T-Money," and that the man admitted Dre paid him for the attempted hit, no arrest was made. Knight is seeking unspecified damages, punitive and otherwise, as well as several other claims, reports Rolling Stone.
Knight also alleges that Dre paid a man $300,000 for a different hit in January 2015. During an altercation that ensued, the alleged hit man, Cle "Bone" Sloan, punched Knight in the parking lot of Tam's Burgers in Compton. Fearing for his life, Knight drove away, injuring Sloan and killing another man, Terry Carter,
"The lawsuit gives the proper motivation or at least explains what happened to Suge in the past year and a half," Knight's lawyer, Thaddeus Culpepper, tells Rolling Stone. "It sets the table for real discussion as to why he would just run people over. If the idea is that he was just a crazy man and ran some people over because he's Suge Knight, no, there was a reason and we think we set it out pretty well."
Team Dre says Knight's allegations are absurd and defamatory. "Given that Dre has had zero interaction with Suge since leaving Death Row Records in 1996, we hope that Suge's lawyer has lots of malicious prosecution insurance," a lawyer for Dr. Dre tells Rolling Stone.
Knight is currently incarcerated and awaiting trial on a murder charge resulting from the January 2015 hit and run incident.
