String Of Oakland Shootings Leave 1 Dead, 6 Hurt
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- One person was killed and several others wounded in a string of shootings across Oakland in a 12-hour period starting Sunday afternoon and ending early Monday morning, police said.
The fatal shooting was reported in the 2200 block of Foothill Boulevard around 10:50 p.m. Sunday, Officer Kevin McDonald said. The victim succumbed to gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 1:15 p.m. Sunday, two people were shot in the 1600 block of Church Street. Both were transported to nearby hospitals in stable condition.
About 4:30 p.m., another victim was wounded by gunfire in the 2300 block of East 23rd Street and taken to a hospital in stable condition, McDonald said.
Officers responded to a shooting around 12:15 a.m. in the 1000 block of 73rd Avenue, where someone shot one person sitting in a vehicle. That victim then drove themselves to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police.
At 1 a.m., police received reports of a shooting near the intersection of Diamond Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard, where another person in a car was shot. That victim was also transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
Less than 15 minutes later, another shooting was reported in the 800 block of 66th Avenue. One victim in the shooting was shot and taken to a hospital in stable condition, McDonald said.
Suspect information and other details of the shootings were not immediately available this morning.
