Storm Knocks Power To 1,500 Peninsula Homes

REDWOOD CITY (BCN) -- Power has been restored Saturday morning to more than 1,500 PG&E customers on the Peninsula who were affected by two separate outages in Redwood City and Belmont overnight, a utility spokesman said.

Service was disrupted to about 1,140 customers in Redwood City shortly before 11:20 p.m. Friday, PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.

The affected area, bordered by Woodside Road to the north, El Camino Real on the east, Stockbridge Avenue to the south, and Encina Avenue on the west, had its power restored at 7:48 a.m. today, Guidi said.

The outage was apparently caused by inclement weather in the area.

A smaller outage occurred earlier Friday night in Belmont, where 390 customers were without power for nearly six hours.

A piece of equipment failed about 10:10 p.m., knocking out power in the area of Ralston Avenue, Notre Dame Avenue, Middle Road, and Alameda de las Pulgas.

Power was restored at 4:04 a.m., Guidi said.

With more stormy weather expected in the next few days, PG&E is reminding customers to prepare and be safe. To report an outage, call (800) 743-5002.
