Storm Gives San Jose 3rd Wettest Day On Record, 11th Wettest In San Francisco
SAN JOSE (KPIX 5) – Thursday's major storm that pounded the Bay Area will go down in the record books as one of the wettest days in the region in more than a decade.
On Thursday, 3.29 inches of rain fell at San Jose Airport, the third wettest day since record keeping began in the late 1800s. The last time it rained this much in San Jose in one day was on January 30, 1958, when 3.60 inches fell.
San Jose's wettest day on record was on September 12, 1918, when 4.18 inches fell.
San Francisco had its 11th wettest day on record Thursday, with 3.40 inches of rain. Thursday was the wettest day in the City by the Bay in 19 years (3.61 inches fell on December 11, 1995.) Weather records for San Francisco go back to the Civil War.
Rain is expected to taper off Friday, turning into showers. The weekend should be dry.
