Saint Mary's Pulls Past USF For 86-68 Win

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Mickey McConnell scored 19 points, including nine straight late in the second half, to lead Saint Mary's to an 86-68 win over San Francisco on Saturday night in a matchup of the top two teams in the West Coast Conference.

Rob Jones added 18 points and five rebounds, Matthew Dellavedova scored 14 points and Mitchell Young had 11 for the Gaels (22-4, 10-1). Saint Mary's has won four straight and 16 of 18.

Rashad Green and Michael Williams scored 17 points apiece for San Francisco (13-12, 7-3).

The Dons were off to their best start in conference play since 1981 before losing to the Gaels for the 11th straight time.
