Steve Jobs Biopic Starring Ashton Kutcher Begins Filming In Los Altos
LOS ALTOS (KCBS)— A Hollywood film crew is descending on Silicon Valley this week for the filming of one of two upcoming movies about the late Steve Jobs.
Filming began Monday in Los Altos for scenes about the house where Jobs grew up in the 1970s and eventually launched his Apple empire.
This film, titled jOBS, is not the movie based on Walter Isaacson's biography, but it does star Ashton Kutcher in the lead role as the technology guru. The film is transforming the normally quiet Crist Drive into a glimpse of the past.
Neighbor John Wolverton said neighbors have been asked to move their cars off the street. Some lucky residents have even been able to poke around the set.
KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:
"It's cool to see them fixing up the house to make it look old. Old Schwinn Stingrays out front and everything," Wolverton said.
Another neighborhood resident, Joyce VanReis is a self-professed Ashton Kutcher fan and thinks the actor was well cast in the role, saying she's absolutely going to see the movie.
"He's a great comedian, but he can also tone it down and be serious," Van Reis said.
jOBS has been in production since last August. Filming in the neighborhood is set to last three days, while the film is set to be released sometime later this year.
A second Sony Pictures Jobs movie, based on Isaacon's authorized biography and screen written by Aaron Sorkin of "The Social Network" fame, hasn't announced who will be playing role of the late Apple CEO.
