Stephen Colbert Gets Post-Super Bowl Spot on CBS
(CBS NEWS) – Stephen Colbert will have a major lead-in for his late-night show next year -- for one night only.
CBS announced Wednesday that a special version of the "Late Show" will air right after the 2016 Super Bowl on Feb. 7. It marks the first time a late-night series ever aired in that post-Super Bowl timeslot.
The coveted spot could rake in more viewers for Colbert, considering more than 100 million people on average watch the Super Bowl.
After the "Late Show" airs that night, local new will run prior to a special Super Bowl Sunday edition of "The Late Late Show with James Corden."
Colbert kicked off his stint on the "Late Show" in September, replacing longtime host David Letterman.
