Stanford, Notre Dame Extend Annual Football Matchup
STANFORD (CBC/AP) -- Stanford has announced it is extending its annual football series with Notre Dame through the 2019 season.
Athletic director Bob Bowlsby said Thursday that the schools were extending their home-and-home series for eight additional years. The teams were already scheduled to play this year on Nov. 26 at Stanford Stadium.
Stanford and Notre Dame have squared off 25 times beginning with the first meeting between the two schools in the 1925 Rose Bowl. The Irish hold a 17-8 advantage in the series, although Stanford has won the last two games.
The two schools have met annually for each of the last 14 seasons and 21 out of the last 23 campaigns dating back to 1988.
