Student Arrested After Teacher Stabbed At Santa Rosa School
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - A student was arrested following the stabbing of a teacher at a high school in Santa Rosa Wednesday.
The stabbing happened at Midrose High School, an alternative school on the campus of Elsie Allen High School on 599 Bellevue Ave. in Santa Rosa shortly after 1 p.m.
According to students who witnessed the stabbing, the teacher was stabbed several times with a pen or a pencil. The student ran off after the attack.
Numerous law enforcement officials were brought in to find the suspect, who was found at a nearby home on Silver Spur Drive, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.
The teacher was hospitalized with injuries that were not life-threatening, according to police.
The teen suspect was not identified.
The campus was placed on lockdown following the incident. Around 2:45 p.m., the high school's principal made an announcement that the campus lockdown was lifted and that all school activities could resume.
Elsie Allen High School is near the site where 13-year-old Andy Lopez was fatally by a deputy who mistook the boy's replica BB gun for an actual AK-47 assault rifle on October 23rd.
Many students from Elsie Allen participated in a protest march following the fatal shooting.
