South San Francisco Woman Accused Of Shooting Husband

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- A South San Francisco wife suspected of shooting her husband in the chest was arrested for attempted murder after initially telling police he was involved in a drive-by shooting Friday morning, according to police.

Karen Totua, 25, began arguing with her husband in a bedroom of their home, located at 451 Commercial Ave., around 7 a.m. after he returned home from being out all night Thursday, police said.

Totua became angry and allegedly grabbed a small handgun kept in their room. She fired one shot at her husband and struck him in the chest, police said.

Totua then took him to the hospital, where he was treated for injuries not believed to be life threatening, police said.

The couple initially tried to convince responding officers that the husband had been involved in a drive-by shooting, but an investigation revealed the wife shot him, police said.

Totua's husband was treated and released, and she was booked at the San Mateo County Jail for attempted murder, felony assault with a firearm, and felony domestic violence.
