South Bay Crews Prepare For Possible Flooding
SAN JOSE (KCBS) - Santa Clara Valley Water District crews were busy Friday bracing for possible flooding from the rain hitting the Bay Area which is expected to last until the next week.
Santa Clara Valley Water District Field Operations Manager Carol Frederickson said crews have been working to clear logs and other debris out of the streams and rivers.

Santa Clara Valley Water District Field Operations Manager Carol Frederickson said crews have been working to clear logs and other debris out of the streams and rivers.
"That's often what will create some flooding if we have a lot of debris that gets caught," she said. "Which doesn't allow the water to flow out towards the Bay."
Frederickson said they also recently practiced stopping water from flowing to downtown San Jose using a bladder dam. She said they'll only deploy the dam if the rivers get really full of water.
"It redirects it back down to the creeks and prevents it from flooding the downtown area," said Frederickson.
She is also reminding residents to clean out their gutters and report local flooding.
Scotts Valley resident Angela Brassfield said she's planning to stay inside next to the fire and food this weekend.
"I don't live too far in the mountains so I'm not too worried," she said.
