South Bay Food Donations Still Desperately Needed For Thanksgiving
SAN JOSE (KCBS) - With a week to go before Thanksgiving, turkey and food donations are coming in a little too slowly at South Bay charities.
"I understand there were some baseball games that everybody was very, very focused on, and I don't think anybody was really that focused on holidays, Thanksgiving and needy families until maybe just a few days ago," said Kathy Jackson, CEO of the Second Harvest Food Bank in San Jose.
KCBS' Betsy Gebhart Reports:
Jackson said she needs those World Series revelers to now focus on the fact that the food bank is now 5,000 turkey dinners short of its goal of 11,500 by the end of this weekend. You can drop a turkey off, along with other food banks at the food banks in San Jose or San Carlos between now and the end of the weekend. Better yet, Jackson said, you can go online and make a monetary donation so the food bank can fill in the gaps in their Thanksgiving meals.
