South Bay Congresswoman Lends Support To Family Of Sierra LaMar
MORGAN HILL (KCBS) – San Jose Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren is offering to support the family of missing Morgan Hill teen Sierra LaMar with a new school notification law that could help with search efforts for missing children.
Visiting the search headquarters in Morgan Hill on Wednesday, Lofgren shook hands and posed for pictures with the 30 or so hardcore searchers who have continued looking for Sierra LaMar since she disappeared in mid-March.

"I wanted to come down and thank the volunteers. It's a remarkable thing that six months out, people are still coming twice a week," Lofgren said. "And it's really inspiring."
She got a chance to talk to Marlene and Steve LaMar – Sierra's parents – who are pushing for a state law that would require schools to notify parents earlier in the day if a student is absent.
Steve LaMar said Congresswoman Lofgren's visit was a big boost for the morale of searchers.
"It's important to keep the story out there and having public figures come and show their support helps that cause," he said.
The 15-year-old disappeared on her way to school on the morning of March 16.
21-year-old Antolin Garcia-Torres has been arrested for her murder, although a body has not yet been found.
