Man Killed, Woman Injured In Stabbing Near Petaluma
SONOMA COUNTY (KCBS) -- A man was killed and a woman injured in a stabbing in unincorporated Petaluma Friday afternoon, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office learned of the stabbing on Marshall Lane at 3:20 p.m. when a bicyclist called 911 to report seeing a man and a woman involved in a physical fight, officials said.
The pair was standing near a vehicle in the front yard of a house and the woman was screaming, the caller told dispatchers.
Arriving deputies found the man and woman on the ground, both with stab wounds.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while the woman was rushed to the hospital with multiple stab wounds. Her condition remained unknown early Friday evening, officials said.
Investigators were initially concerned about a child, since they found a child safety seat inside the nearby car, but that child has since been located and is safe.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses to the incident.
The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released, pending identification of his next of kin.
Marshall Avenue was closed between Skillman and Shady lanes during the investigation, the sheriff's office said.
