Sonoma Coast Diver Dies After Apparent Heart Attack
FORT ROSS (CBS SF) - A diver whose death was initially reported as a drowning this morning appears to have suffered a medical emergency while looking for abalone on the Sonoma Coast, a sheriff's lieutenant said.
The man, who was 42, was found in the rocks south of Pedotti Ranch in the Fort Ross State Historic Park area, Lt. Glen Lawrence said.
He and another person were in water about chest high when the man collapsed at 9:30 a.m., apparently because of a cardiac problem or other medical issue, Lawrence said.
The man's name has not been released.
