Some Fans Take Giants Fever To A Permanent Extreme
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) - San Francisco Giants gear flew off the shelves as the team launched a post-season winning streak against the Texas Rangers.
However, some fans found t-shirts and baseball caps insufficient. They wanted a more permanent way to show their love for the home team.
KCBS' Tim Ryan Reports:
"This is their year so I'm trying to support them as much as possible," a man who identified himself as Marco said of his newest tattoo. "And it was a cool design, so it worked out all the way around."
He had a Giants "SF" logo inked on his leg, even before the World Series was over.
"Well I was born and raised here so it doesn't really matter if they lose, you know it still goes with what's going on in my life. This is where I live."
He didn't have to go far to find a tattoo parlor that embraced the idea. One Shot Tattoo at 7th and Irving in San Francisco's Sunset District had a Giants Special: a tattoo of "Giants" in block lettering over a baseball outline, or a traditional SF logo.
"It just seemed like something natural to do and we've been doing a lot of them," explained owner Dave Bobrick. "A lot of people have come by and gotten them. So we're doing $80 Giants tattoos."
He welcomed any fan who designed his or her own Giants tattoo, as well.
"Yeah, absolutely, they are our Giants. They're going to win, too."
