Some Bay Area Gas Prices Top $4 A Gallon
CUPERTINO (KCBS) – It's getting more and more costly to pay at the pump as some locations in the Bay Area are already topping $4 a gallon.
The price at a Union 76 station in Cupertino is $4.05 a gallon for regular and $4.25 a gallon for premium. That's about 33 cents more than what a station a few blocks away is charging.
KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:
But there were still people lining up to pay the higher prices.
"It's just a matter of convenience and time," said one customer. "I'm a little pressed for time and I'll eat the loss if it's a few dollars because most important is my convenience and time, rather than try to hunt around."
Station owner Mohsen Khazri said he had to raise prices 10 cents a gallon from the day before.
"One thing I want people to know is the fact that the gas station owners are not really making that much money," Khazri said. "The people that are making money are the oil companies and corporations. They're the ones that are raising the gas prices for us and we have no other choice."
Khazri said the way things are going, customers should expect to pay $5 a gallon by the summer.
