Solo Driver In Santa Rosa Carpool Lane Busted For Meth, Suspended License
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) - A 38-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after riding solo in the carpool lane on southbound U.S. Highway 101 in Santa Rosa, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP Officer Michael Phennicie was on patrol on Highway 101 at state Highway 12 around 4:20 p.m. when he saw a Lexus sedan enter the carpool lane with only the driver in the car, CHP officials said.
The officer pulled over the car and identified the driver, and only person in the car, as Jason Alfred Brackett of Corte Madera, officials said.
A record check revealed Brackett had a suspended license for being a negligent operator, having received 10 citations in the past two years and failing to appear in court on several of the citations, according to CHP officials.
The officer impounded the Lexus and during a routine inventory the officer allegedly found about 30 grams of methamphetamine, officials said.
Brackett was then arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of methamphetamine for sales and driving without a license, officials said.
