Small Quakes Rattle Santa Cruz County
BOULDER CREEK (BCN) - The U.S. Geological Survey reported an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.0 struck Thursday morning in Santa Cruz County.
At 3:43 a.m., the quake shook an area near Castle Rock State Park, according to the USGS, and had a depth of 7.2 miles.
The epicenter was located 6 miles north of Boulder Creek and 6 miles southwest of Saratoga, according to the USGS.
A second, smaller seimic event occurred seconds later, according to the USGS, when a 1.8-magnitude quake originated from the same region.
