Small Earthquake Shakes South Bay

SAN JOSE (BCN) - An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.0 struck east of San Jose late Sunday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The 3.6-mile deep quake was reported by the USGS just before 11:15 p.m. in an area east-southeast of San Jose City Hall and just 10 miles north of Morgan Hill.

The tremor is the second to shake the San Jose area this month, following an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 that struck on Jan. 7.
