Skateboarder Hit By Truck In San Francisco's Tenderloin Dies
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A skateboarder died from injuries he suffered when he rolled through a red light and was struck by a truck in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood on Wednesday, police said.
The 34-year-old skateboarder was riding through the intersection of Eddy and Jones streets and was hit by a white pickup truck at 11:55 a.m., according to police.
Officers responding to the scene gave the skateboarder medical aid, and when he stopped breathing they administered CPR until medical help arrived, Officer Albie Esparza said.
He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:15 p.m.
Esparza said that the driver of the truck stopped and cooperated with police. He said no arrests were made, but police are still investigating the collision.
Preliminary investigation indicates, "It was just an unfortunate accident," Esparza said.
