SJSU Singers To Perform This Weekend With The Rolling Stones
SAN JOSE (KPIX 5) - For many, this weekend's Bay Area Rolling Stones show is a once in a lifetime chance to see music legends. But for a small group of Bay Area singers, it's a chance to perform with some of the most popular musicians of all time.
San Jose State Choior Director Jeffrey Benson got to announce the surprise gig to his group last week.
"Dr. Benson was like, 'got a call from London and would you like to sing with the Stones?'" recalled singer Andrew Ford.
Dr. Benson said the stones were looking for a choior to back them up on their North American tour.
"People from London already had some contacts in Southern California and they recommended us from San Jose State to do the Bay Area legs. We got the call to come sing with us in Oakland and San Jose," said Benson.
For the students getting the call is the pay off that comes from a lot of hard work and dedication.
"This is certainly unreal. They are the biggest rock and roll band on the planet," said singer Lizzie Clapper.
The group, known as the Choraliers, will get to sing just one song with Mick and the boys, "You Can't Always Get What You Want."
