SJPD Asks For Public's Help With Investigation Into Killing Of Student
SAN JOSE (KCBS)—San Jose police are asking for the public's help in connection with the fatal shooting of San Jose State University student over the weekend.
Kimberly Chico, 19, was a passenger in a car or East 2nd at San Salvador Streets when she was shot at about 1 a.m. on Saturday night.
"We don't know who did this or what the motive was. We know based on evidence at the scene that shots were fired from outside the vehicle, " San spokesman Sgt. Jason Dwyer said. "She was in the car with a 21-year-old male that was known to her. He has been eliminated as a suspect."

With the high concentration of nightclubs and bars in the area, Dwyer said that there is high chance that there are witnesses who know something that could help with their investigation.
"We believe somebody saw something or knows something and we're hoping that that they call the police and give us some direction with our investigation," he said.
While it's still early in the investigation, it appears that Chico may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time but Dwyer said it's too early to say for sure as police do not have enough information.
The shooting death marks San Jose's 30th homicide for 2013 compared to 25 at this same time last year.
