SJ Airport Looking To Develop Into Corporate Traffic Hub
SAN JOSE (KCBS)— The San Jose City Council is expected to move forward on Tuesday with a plan to upgrade the general aviation side of Mineta International Airport. The goal is to land more corporate jet traffic.
After spending $1.5 billion on a new terminal and parking garage, a new development plan will include a request for proposals to build new hangars to provide a full range of services for corporate aircraft.
Council Member Rose Herrera said it's time for the city to examine opportunities to attract more corporate traffic at the General Aviation section on the west side of the airport.

While the plan is to turn the airport into a hub for corporate traffic, the council is not willing to change the airport's curfew rules.
"I think the community has a right to be watching that, especially folks who live near the airport," Herrera said.
With the Silicon Valley being the center of high-tech corporations, San Jose is seen as one of the best corporate aviation business markets in the country.
