Six Children Rescued In Bay Area Sex Trafficking Crackdown
SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- Bay Area law enforcement agencies, working with the FBI, made 72 arrests and rescued six children during a week-long crackdown on child sex trafficking, the FBI announced Monday.
The arrests were the result of a nationwide effort called Operation Cross Country that included 186 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
A total of 661 arrests were made throughout the country, 99 of which were allegedly pimps.
In the Bay Area, three of the alleged pimps were arrested by Antioch and Pittsburg police, three by Hayward police, and one by San Rafael police.
Seven alleged Johns were arrested by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office and one by San Rafael police.
Of the six juveniles that were rescued locally, two were found in Hayward, three in Oakland and one in San Francisco, according to the FBI.
