Silicon Valley Keeping Close Tabs On Visit By President Of China
SAN JOSE (CBS/KCBS) -- The concerns of Silicon Valley were expected to dominate talks this week between the White House and China.
KCBS' Chris Filippi Reports:
Meetings between the leaders of the two nations would likely improve relations, at least in the short term.
"And then it begins to kind of go downhill in the absence of their meeting because there are many issues that divide us. Iran, Burma, North Korea, climate change, trade," suggested Orville Schell, director of the Center On U.S. - China Relations at the Asia Society.
Silicon Valley Leadership Group head Carl Guardino believes that tech companies wanting to compete globally need access to the Chinese market.
"The tradeoff is what are you being asked to sacrifice in terms of your intellectual properties," he pointed out.
