Silicon Valley CEOs Predict Better News in 2011
SAN JOSE (KCBS) - The business community was poised to pop the champagne before New Year's Eve, after a local expert predicted a much better year ahead for Silicon Valley.
KCBS' Mike Colgan Reports:
The expectation is that 2011 is not only going to be a new year, it's going to be a successful year.
"We see, across industry clusters, high-tech, biotech, clean and green tech, growth in Silicon Valley," declared Carl Guardino, CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, which represents more than 250 Silicon Valley companies. "Not only growth in companies but growth in jobs in Silicon Valley from those companies."
"More hiring in the driving industries of Silicon Valley, high-tech, biotech, clean and green tech means more hiring across other clusters as well that depend on our driving industries to spur growth within their industries, whether that's real estate, restaurants, retail, et cetera, when high-tech, biotech, clean and green tech are doing well, almost all of us are doing well."
"What we hear from our members in the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, whether they're high-tech, biotech or clean and green tech is that their companies are growing, that's translating into more hiring and fortunately, more hiring right here in Silicon Valley," Guardino explained.
