1 Injured In Shooting Near Oakland 12th Street BART Station
OAKLAND (KCBS)— One person has been arrested after a shooting injured an innocent bystander Friday afternoon near the 12th Street Bay Area Rapid Transit station.
Police said two men opened fire on each other near the corner of 11th and Broadway in Oakland. A taxi driver standing outside his cab was struck in the leg and ran into a nearby hotel to get help, according to police. He was expected to survive.
Officers responded and immediately cordoned off the neighborhood while they searched for suspects. At least one suspect was taken into custody and officers continued to search for the second suspect.
BART trains were delayed briefly at the 12th Street station while officers checked out reports that the gunman may have fled into the station. Trains were moving again about 45 minutes after that shooting was first reported.
