No Suspects Found After Reports Of Oakland Shootout
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - Oakland police secured the scene of a reported shooting in East Oakland Friday afternoon and said there were no victims or suspects located.
Officers responded at 12:28 p.m. to reports of two males apparently shooting at each other near 100th Avenue and International Boulevard, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.
Officers were at the scene as of 1:30 p.m. and were looking for suspects. A possible suspect was thought to be barricaded inside a building near the intersection, Watson said.
A woman contacted at St. Louis Bertrand Parish church at 1410 100th Avenue said she and others in the church offices had heard the gunshots, but had not seen any suspects or apparent victims. She said police shut down International Boulevard between 100th and 102nd during the search for a suspect.
While initial news reports suggested a suspect had holed up in the AutoZone store on International Boulevard, an employee who answered the phone there was unaware of the police incident in progress and had no information.
Police reported clearing the scene shortly before 3 p.m.
