Sharks Re-Sign Desjardins, Sheppard
SAN JOSE (CBS/AP) - The San Jose Sharks have re-signed forwards Andrew Desjardins and James Sheppard before they could become restricted free agents next month.
General manager Doug Wilson announced the deals on Wednesday to lock up the players before the free agency period starts July 5.
Desjardins had two goals and one assist in 42 games last season playing mostly on the fourth line. He won 54.2 percent of his faceoffs and got significant time on a much-improved penalty kill unit.
Sheppard had one goal and three assists in 32 games last season in his return from a career-threatening leg injury from an ATV accident that kept him out of the NHL for two seasons.
The 25 year-old Sheppard has 12 goals and 41 assists in 256 career games.
