Sharks Re-Sign Defenseman Petrecki To 1-Year Deal
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- The San Jose Sharks announced Wednesday that the team re-signed defenseman Nick Petrecki to a one-year contract.
In 2012-13 Petrecki made his NHL debut against the Anaheim Ducks on January 29, 2013. At the American Hockey League level with the Worcester Sharks, Petrecki played 42 games and registered six points (one goal, five assists) and 135 penalty minutes.
In 2011-12, Petrecki played 68 games for Worcester, posting nine points (one goal, eight assists) and 107 penalty minutes. He was awarded the 2012 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, given to the AHL man of the year for service in his local community.
The 23 year-old Petrecki has played in 242 career AHL games, registering 43 points (seven goals, 36 assists) and 477 penalty minutes.
The six-foot-three, 230-pound native of Schenectady, New York was selected by San Jose in the first round (28th overall) in the 2007 NHL Draft.
