SFO Sends Ceast-And-Desist Letter To Ride-Share Companies
MILBRAE (KCBS)— San Francisco International Airport has sent cease and desist letters to several ride-sharing companies with the concern over unregulated community drivers.
So far six companies have received notification from SFO including; Lyft, Uber and InstantCab.
"They're being advised, number one, of the rules and regulations and the fact that they do require a permit to operate here in San Francisco," SFO Spokesman Doug Yakel, who added that the companies are also provided the opportunity to interact with the airport.
Yakel added that some of the companies have responded with interest in going through the permitting process, while others have decided to not serve SFO. He said that "so-called" community drivers that have not gone through that process cannot serve the airport.

"We're certainly open to new business concepts, but we want to apply the same standard to all businesses that operate here at SFO and that requires going through the permit process," he said.
Meanwhile, the California Public Utilities Commission has started looking into setting up new rules for ride-sharing companies.
