SF Supe Concerned About Transbay Terminal Without High-Speed Rail
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS)— San Francisco Supervisor Sean Elsbernd wants a reality check on the city's Transbay Terminal project if high-speed rail is not built.
With the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency closing down, state funding cuts looming and congressional support fading, the future of the trains are in doubt.
At this week's board meeting, Elsbernd asked Mayor Ed Lee what the alternate plan was if the money for high-speed rail went away.

Lee responded that he's committed to seeing full implementation of the project which includes having a northern terminus at the Transbay Terminal.
Construction on the new terminal is underway. But much of the state and federal funding, including funding to include Caltrain and high-speed rail, is suddenly in doubt.
Elsbernd said he was frustrated by the mayor's response and called for a public hearing, suggesting an inquiry is in order.
"I want it to happen, but I also don't want us to be in a situation where the money disappears and we're stuck with the most beautiful bus stop in the world," said Elsbernd.
The supervisor hopes that public hearing will produce some real answers to his question.
