SF Shooting Injures 11-Year-Old Girl, Closes Highway 101
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Three people have been detained in connection with a shooting that injured an 11-year-old girl in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley neighborhood Friday afternoon, police said.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting on Leland Avenue around 3:45 p.m.
Witnesses said that suspects fired shots toward a park located at Leland Avenue and Peabody Street before driving away in a green two-door Lexus, police Sgt. Michael Andraychak said.
Officers found an 11-year-old girl who was injured during the shooting. Police said a bullet grazed the girl and she was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
The girl was most likely not an intended target, police said.
Officers spotted a car matching the suspect vehicle's description entering U.S. Highway 101 from Bayshore Boulevard and stopped the car.
Three people were detained and a gun was recovered from the Lexus, Andraychak said.
Several northbound lanes of U.S. Highway 101 were closed to traffic Friday as officers investigated.
