SF Bicycle Coalition Offers Dating Game For Cyclists
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Bicyclists searching for a riding companion this Valentine's Day can give the San Francisco Bicycle Coalition's dating game a spin Wednesday night.
The annual "Love on Wheels" event at San Francisco's DNA Lounge will give bicycle bachelors and bachelorettes of all persuasions a chance to play a special bike version of MTV's 1990s dating game "Singled Out," according to coalition spokeswoman Leah Shahum.
Players will choose from a range of potential partners hidden behind a curtain, and those matched up will win a date provided by sponsors.
The 1990s-themed event will also allow give attendees a chance to mingle and meet fellow riders, participate in various crafty activities and win raffle prizes that include a new bike and a night on the town.
Shahum said she knows of at least two couples who met at past "Love on Wheels" events. While bicyclists usually don't limit their dating choices exclusively to other bicyclists, she said, "It makes life so much easier!"
"It is a big plus to know that somebody you're going to be spending time with can actually move at your pace," Shahum said. "It's frustrating to wait for a date who is circling for parking or stuck on public transit."
Tickets, which cost $5 for bicycle coalition members and $10 for non-members, are available at sfbike.org/love. The event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the DNA Lounge, 375 11th St. in San Francisco.
