SF Archbishop Compares Gay Marriage To Male Breastfeeding
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- San Francisco's new archbishop Salvatore Cordileone told an English Catholic newspaper that legalizing same-sex marriage was akin to legalizing male-breastfeeding.
In an interview with CatholicHerald.co.uk, Cordileone cautioned against over-using the term 'gay marriage,' because it might fool people into thinking it is an authentic reality.
"Legislating for the right for people of the same sex to marry is like legalizing male breastfeeding," Cordileone said.
The archbishop said fighting to protect traditional marriage was this generation's gift from God.
"Fighting for marriage is our way of loving God, and the struggle is the particular gift that God has given our generation," Cordileone said.
Cordileone also discussed the role of women, calling them "life-givers."
