Man Charged In SF Apartment Attack, Sexual Assault Could Get Multiple Life Sentences
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) -- Prosecutors say a Marin City man charged with forcing his way into a San Francisco woman's apartment and sexually assaulting her is facing the possibility of multiple life sentences, if convicted.
Jovan Jones appeared in court Friday after being charged with nine felony counts, including rape and residential robbery.
Police arrested the 25-year-old Jones after he allegedly attacked the woman as she walked into her Telegraph Hill apartment last Saturday.
A police spokesman said after officers were called, Jones tried to escape arrest by jumping off a balcony.
During his arraignment Friday, Jones pleaded not guilty and was ordered to return to court on Feb. 4.
He's being held on $5 million bail.
