Several Grass Fires Break Out In The Bay
NAPA (KCBS)_ It should come as no surprise on a day of record high temperatures that firefighters are battling several grass fires around the Bay Area Saturday afternoon.
Cal-Fire crews are at the scene of two grass fires in the North Bay where a 75-acre blaze is burning near Bodega Highway and Highway 1. Highway 1 is closed from Bodega Highway to Harbor Way so the CHP is recommending Coleman Valley Road as an alternate route.
Cal-Fire said the blaze destroyed one structure and there is zero percent containment. The fire started around 12:30 p.m.
In Napa, Cal-Fire was called to the scene of a 20-acre grass fire on Conn Valley Road about two miles east of Helena. That fire has been burning for over an hour, but no structures are threatened.
And on the Peninsula, there's word of a fire in a field near Half Moon Bay's Airport. However, Cal-Fire had no details on that blaze.
