Seven Arrested For Allegedly Attacking Bicyclist On El Cerrito Pathway
EL CERRITO (CBS SF) -- Two men and a group of teens were arrested after allegedly attacking and robbing a bicyclist on the path to the El Cerrito Del Norte BART station late Wednesday night, police said.
Police said a man was riding his bike on the BART path in the 11800 block of San Pablo Avenue around 11:30 p.m. when a group of seven males confronted him.
The suspects, two armed with guns, knocked the man off of his bicycle, pistol-whipped him and stole his wallet containing $75 in cash, his driver's license and credit card, police said.
The man called 911 and officers canvassed the area for the suspects, as well as witnesses and other possible victims.
Officers found and detained a group of males a short time later near the intersection of Wall Avenue and South 45th Street. The victim identified them as the ones who had robbed him, police said.
Police said a search of the suspects turned up two Airsoft replica guns and the victim's stolen property.
The two adult suspects were identified as 20-year-old Jahhi Johnson and 18-year-old Delbert Stallworth, both of Richmond, according to police.
Both were arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and taken to county jail in Martinez.
Police did not release the remaining five suspects' names because they are minors but said all five were arrested and taken to juvenile hall in Martinez.
