3 Separate Vegetation Fires Contained Across Bay Area
(KPIX 5/BCN) -- Alameda County fire crews successfully fought a vegetation fire near Lake Chabot Regional Park on Thursday afternoon that had burned up a ridge and headed toward some homes.
The fire ignited around 2:45 p.m. near the 2700 block of Pineridge Road, in the area of Lake Chabot Road, in Castro Valley.
The fire spread to 2 acres before being brought under control about 3:30 p.m.
Eight homes had been threatened, but none suffered any damage and no injuries occurred.
Meanwhile, firefighters in Santa Clara County battled another fire Thursday afternoon that destroyed a house near the Uvas Reservoir before spreading to nearby vegetation.
The blaze gutted a single-family manufactured home in the 15500 block of Uvas Road, outside of Morgan Hill.
When crews arrived about 1:45 p.m., the home was engulfed in flames, Cal Fire Division Chief Jim Crawford said.
The flames spread to nearby vegetation and burned about 2 acres before it was contained about 3 p.m.; no injuries were reported.
And in western Marin County on Thursday afternoon, a fire caused by a downed power line burned 1.5 acres of vegetation near Olema.
Crews responded at 2 p.m. to the fire across from the U.S. Post Office, and temporarily closed adjacent state Highway 1 to move fire equipment.
The blaze was contained in less than an hour by 15 firefighters and no injuries or structure damage occurred, Marin County Fire Department Battalion Chief Mike Giannini said.
