Search For Suspects In Home Invasion Robbery In Newark
NEWARK (CBS SF) -- Police were asking for the public's help in identifying suspects in connection with a violent home invasion robbery in Newark on Friday.
At about 10:15 a.m. on Friday, Newark police responded to an interrupted burglary on Marsten Drive, according to police.
The suspect entered the residence through a rear window and confronted a female victim asleep in the upstairs bedroom.
He forced her to go into a bathroom and shut the door, holding it closed to prevent her from escaping. The victim attempted to open the door and the suspect punched her in the face before he fled from the residence, police said.
He was last seen running eastbound on Central Avenue toward Cedar Boulevard, according to police.
The suspect is described s a black man between the ages of 20 and 25 years old, standing between 6 feet and 6 feet 1 inches tall. He has a medium complexion, thin build, short brown hair with hazel or green eyes.
He was wearing a green and white camouflage jacket and matching baseball cap, dark-colored baggy pants and wearing a backpack at the time of the robbery, police said.
During the course of the investigation, police determined that a possible second suspect was seen by a witness prior to the burglary.
The second suspect is described as a black man with a dark complexion, and a buzz cut. He is described as standing between 6 feet 1 inchand 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing about 190 pounds, police said.
