Search For Man Who Tried To Grab Assault Aptos Teen Jogger

SANTA CRUZ (CBS SF) -- A teenage girl escaped a man who attempted to sexually assault her while she was jogging in Aptos on Thursday evening, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

The 17-year-old was jogging on Sumner Avenue in the unincorporated area of Santa Cruz County at around 5:30 p.m. when she noticed a man standing behind a black sedan near the corner of Via Soderini.

As she jogged by, the man exposed himself and tried to grab her, but she escaped and ran to Seascape Park to call 911.

The girl described the suspect as a white man in his 30s with a light complexion. He is between 6 feet and 6-feet-2-inches tall with a heavy build, weighing around 250 pounds.

He has short brown hair, a brown groomed beard and he was wearing black sunglasses, a black shirt and dark blue jeans.

Deputies are canvassing the area searching for the suspect. Anyone with information about the incident or the suspect has been asked to call Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office at (831) 454-2311 or (831) 454-1121.
